This marked the best ever performance from the Orewa Club at this prestigious event on the Surf Lifesaving calendar. Everyone really stepped up for their teammates and their club and the results speak for themselves Parker went on to total Club spirit is at an all time high and I am really excited for the upcoming Nationals championships. Incredible results from the whole team! Orewa dominate at northern Region Pool Champs September ACT millennium Outrageous results gained by Orewa members saw us with top points overall in the junior section and the senior section end weekend. Given that we have hosted the regional Age Group Champs for a number of years, which attracts up to 700 athletes, the club is well experienced in hosting an event of this size.
Orewa Surf Lifesaving Club continue to build on their sporting triumph with a very convincing win at the Northern Region Surf Lifesaving Championships held at Omaha Beach February. A big thank you must go to coaches Cole Drinnan Andrew Trembath, as well as all the managers and helpers. Oceans 17 Junior Surf B and C group members,10 13 year colds, attended the NZ Junior Surf Champs held at Mt Maunganui 2 5 March 2017. Orewa Surf Life Saving Club is to be awarded the Gudsell Trophy the SLSNZ National trophy awarded to the club with the maximum number of Surf Lifeguard Awards gained.
Lifeguards recognized through NZ Search Rescues Awards On Tuesday 24 May 2016 the Hon Craig Fosse, Associate Minister of Transport presented the 2015 Fresh Zealand Search and Rescue NZSAR Council Awards. A collective Team effort across the boat and beach arenas saw Orewa SLSC deposit 4th in the Eastern Regional Surf Lifesaving Chaps held over Anniversary weekend at Mount Manganui Beach. Points were accumulated across the boat, canoe, beach and surf craft arenas with athletes ranging from under 16 year colds to Masters competitors. The U23 omens crew The Aces also enjoyed a vast day at the beach with a Gold in concise course and the Silver in the lengthy course.
